ABOUT THE RACE

The race starts at Horndøla bru and follows a gravel up to Hornindalssætra. After passing Hornindalssætra, the route continues along a rougher off-road track leading up the valley.

At the end of the gravel road, you’ll reach the first aid station at Blåvatnet-post. The trail section begins right after this point, gradually climbing towards the small lake Store Luka. The trail follows the shoreline before the steep ascent up Rokkeråsa begins.

Rokkeråsa is 1,3 km long with an elevation gain of 506 meters (an avrege gradient of 38,8%) through technical, loose terrain that involves some scrambling.

After completing Rokkeråsa, the course follows the ridge with final 200 meters of elevation gain to the summit of Hornindalsrokken (1,526 m). This section involves scrambling in exposed terrain.

The summit of Hornindalsrokken is steep and exposed. After reaching the top, the route continues briefly along the ridge before a steep downhill section begins. The terrain then levels out somewhat as you descend into Kjellstaddalen, traversing alpine terrain and rocky slabs.

After descending to Kjellstaddalen, you will cross a river before reaching the trail. From there, the route continues on enjoyable singeltrack trail leading to a gravel road where you find the second aid station and then descended the valley. Follow the road across the bridge to reach the finish line at Trondstad Grendahus.

THE COURSE

Aid stations: Blåvatnet: 4,5 km and Kjellstaddalen: 14 km.

This is the original route up Hornindalsrokken, but if conditions allows, the course will go directly along the ridge.

The direct ridge route will only be used in good weather conditions. In poor weather, the course will instead make a short loop after Rokkeråsa before heading to the summit.
